Ok I admit it wasn’t an opera. But I was still beyond excited to actually be stepping foot into the iconic Sydney Opera House. The show in question was a special screening of 2012 Best Picture Oscar winner ‘The Artist’ with a live score from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
As I ascended the steps in front of the Opera house my excitement mounted. I had been to London’s Royal Opera house many a time, but this felt like something different. This opera house was more than just another beautiful theatre. It had reached such landmark status that I felt incredible privileged just to enter through the doors under one of its white sails, let alone being privy to an actual show. Here I was however being directed to my seat in the concert hall. The stage was all set up ready for the orchestra and the screen behind proclaimed what we were about to see.
The film was just as good as I remembered, and the additions of the live score and the venue in which I sat made the whole experience remarkable.
