Loikaw is the capital of the Kayah state in Myanmar and mostly home to Kayan people. It is gradually becoming a more popular destination for tourists as through the CVT programme set up to preserve the local cultures, tours of the local tribes are becoming more common. Run by local guides they are a chance to meet and learn about the culture and the lifestyle of the Kayan people.
