A literary and cinematically minded travel blog.

Everyone remembers their favourite childhood stories. There are always a few which stick in the mind more prominently than others and inspire dreams of magical lands, or historical events or adventure. For me the ones which I remember the most clearly are those about travel and exploration. Tintin comics, the adventures of Captain Scott, Gerald Durrell’s sojourn in Corfu and Banner in The Sky. They were stories about visiting other places and they filled my head with a desire to travel. I am still drawn to books and films with an emphasis on place, and after finishing my University degree in Literature, my head was full of travel inspiration.

Since then I have been living and working Australia and have also travelled around parts of Asia. I continue to look to works of fiction as my guidebook, and hope in this to encourage others to do the same.
